Cake of the Day: Strawberry Tuxedo Cake
Photo: Naomi Robinson
Self-taught baker Naomi Robinson of the popular blog Bakers Royale is behind today’s tuxedo cake. Just like a black and white tux, this cake is dressed in white frosting and covered in a chocolate glaze for a mesmerizing effect.
“This might exist somewhere either under this name or another, but I haven’t Googled it,” Robinson writes. “For now, I want the vision of this cake as is — as it appears bumping around in my head.”
For her take on a tuxedo cake she uses a mix of her favorite go-to recipes. Robinson bakes layers of white and chocolate cake and fills them with a swiss meringue buttercream and thinly sliced strawberries. She then frosts the remaining buttercream on the outside and flash freezes it for 30 minutes for the final step. A warm chocolate ganache is poured over the top with scatters of quartered strawberries. For the recipe and the step-by-step tutorial head to Bakers Royale for the recipe.
