Gluten-Free Saffron, Orange, and Poppy Seed Cake

Today’s cake comes from Sonja Dahlgren, a photographer, food stylist, and recipe developer based in Sweden. She named her blog, Dagmar’s Kitchen, after her Danish great grandmother who lived until she was 105 (!) and was a stellar home cook. Dahlgren’s goal: to create the same fun, relaxed kitchen atmosphere as Dagmar by making simple, health-minded food.

Dahlgren flavors her corn and almond flour cake batter with saffron, orange zest, and poppy seeds. Next, she ices each layer with vanilla cream cheese frosting. Top it off with fresh white poppy blossoms and you have a beautiful centerpiece for your next holiday gathering.
