Happy 50th Birthday, Bobby Flay!
In January of this year, The New York Times interviewed chef and Food Network personality Bobby Flay about his first New York City restaurant opening in seven years, Gato. Two months later, Bon Appétit magazine celebrated the opening by going behind the scenes at Gato in the video above. “I haven’t taken a breath in 32 years,” Flay says to the camera. “I’ve been cooking professionally since I was 17… I’ve been on ‘go’ since the beginning.”
Take a breath, Bobby! It’s your birthday today! And it’s a big one: Flay is, as of 12:01 this morning, 50 years old.
Half a century, five decades, two score and ten years.
However you want to quantify it, it’s an amount that deserves the clink of a glass. Or a slice of pink cake. Happy birthday, Chef.
