Make Your Own Personal Pear Pies for Dessert

Rachel Tepper Paley

When the hankering for pie strikes, a homemade version isn’t always the most expedient option. You want pie and you want it now! That’s why the personal pear pies in the BuzzFeed video above are so wonderful. The easy-to-follow recipe might be the shortest shortcut to homemade (well, semi-homemade) pie we’ve ever seen.

All that’s required is a peeled and pitted pear, some puff pastry, and a bit of egg wash, plus four ingredients for the topping: half a cup of butter, half a cup of brown sugar, half a cup of crushed walnuts, and a teaspoon of cinnamon.

First, mix the topping ingredients in a saucepan over medium-high heat until smooth and melted. Then, brush the pear with a bit of the topping liquid. From there, all you need to do is cover the pear in the puff pastry, poke a few holes in it, brush it with the egg wash, and bake for 20 minutes at 400°F.
