YouTube Phenomenon Michelle Phan Shares Her Favorite Comfort Food

Michelle Phan is one of the superstars of the beauty world. She's a phenomenon on YouTube with more than one billion video views and more than seven million channel subscribers. Last year, she launched her own makeup line, Em, and she just published her first book, Make Up: Your Life Guide to Beauty, Style, and Success—Online and Off.

What Phan’s fans might not know about her? She's a big foodie, and her mother’s chicken pho is the dish she craves above all others. "Whether it's a cold, a hangover, or you're having a bad day…pho just comes to the rescue,” said Phan of the classic Vietnamese noodle soup. It's both her comfort food and her cure-all: "When you're eating a bowl of pho, you're eating everything you need."

As a little girl, the beauty pro would help her mother in the kitchen. "I would get all the ingredients ready for her,” she remembered. "I was like her sous chef growing up."

Feeding her children was always a priority for Jennifer Phan, no matter how busy she was. "My mother would work 14 hours and she’d come home and she’d just get right into cooking…she wanted to make sure my brother, my sister, and I had food in our bellies."
