These little piggies make up the players and audience members in our game day stadium. The secret to this dish is wrapping cocktail sausages in premade dough and boiling them before baking to create a brown pretzel exterior. Serve up with your favorite spicy mustard.

1 14-ounce package cocktail sausages
2 cans (8 ounce) refrigerated crescent roll dough
2/3 cup baking soda
1 egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water
Poppy seeds, for garnish
Spicy mustard, for dipping

Preheat the oven to 375 °F. Pop open the cans of crescent dough, and unroll the sheets. Separate the dough at the perforations, into triangles. You should get 8 triangles from each sheet of crescent dough, giving you a total of 16 triangles. Cut each triangle, lengthwise into 3 narrow triangles, giving you a total of about 48 small triangles.

Place a sausage on the wide end of one of the triangles, and roll the dough, tightly around the sausage. Place the sausage on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper, and repeat the process with the remaining sausages. Place the rolled sausages into the refrigerator for 5 minutes to firm up.

Place 10 cups of water and baking soda in a large pot, and bring it to a boil over high heat. Using tongs, dip the sausages into the boiling water for 5-7 seconds, and place the sausages back on the parchment lined sheet pan. It’s easiest to dip the sausages in small batches, so they are easy to control. Brush the egg-water mixture onto the sausages, and then sprinkle with poppy seeds. Bake for 15 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top. Serve with spicy mustard and enjoy while warm.
