Swiss Black Forest Cake

Right now, somewhere in a small mining town in India, Shumaila Chauhan is writing, styling, and photographing for the food blog Novice Housewife.
After a recent marriage entailed a major relocation from the United States, landing in India with neither a job nor friends, Chauhan needed a creative outlet. Her new town had only three restaurants, so she turned to cooking to recreate the favorite recipes she missed from home. You’ll find many of them in her blog, along with mouthwatering recipes for Indian food, her dad’s famous spaghetti sauce, and beautiful desserts.
That brings us to Chauhan’s gorgeous rendition of black forest cake. She starts by soaking fresh cherries in Kirsch, a cherry-flavored liqueur. She then carefully layers the cherries between slabs of velvety chocolate cake and fresh whipped cream, and finishes off the whole creation by lining its perimeter with towering shards of dark chocolate.
Head to her blog for the step-by-step tutorial, and let us know in the comments if you end up giving this cake a whirl!
