The world’s most prestigious cooking competition, the Bocuse d’Or, took place in Lyon, France, last week, and in a first for the United States, the country placed second. It was Team USA’s best performance in decades of competing.

The team consisted of Chef Philip Tessier and his assistant Skylar Stover, both of The French Laundry, the celebrated Thomas Keller restaurant in Napa Valley, California. The two were helped by an A-list team of coaches and advisers that included chef Keller and Grant Achatz, the chef of Alinea in Chicago.

Check out our slideshow for a look at the send-off Tessier and Stover received from their colleagues at Keller restaurants around the country, plus some behind-the-scenes pictures from the competition and their victory tour around New York yesterday, which included a stop at Yahoo Food.
