Gather Ingredients + Supplies
1 part beeswax
1 part coconut oil
1 part shea butter
Vitamin E oil
Peppermint oil
Glass measuring cup or bowl
Saucepan
Utensil for stirring
Tins or jars for storing lip balm
Measure + Mix
1. Measure beeswax, coconut oil, and shea butter into a glass measuring cup or bowl.
2. In a saucepan, bring 1-2 inches of water to a simmer, then place measuring cup or bowl in water. Stir occasionally until mixture is fully melted and blended together, about 10 minutes. If desired, add a few drops of Vitamin E and peppermint oil.
3. Drizzle some of the mixture onto a piece of parchment paper and let harden (the fridge will help speed this along) to test your lip balm. This recipe is a good jumping off point, but you should definitely adjust it to your liking! Add more peppermint or vitamin e oils, or more of the beeswax, shea butter, or coconut oil. A tip: More beeswax will make a harder balm; more coconut oil or shea butter will make a softer balm.
Fill Containers
Carefully pour mixture into lip balm tins or tubes and let cool completely before putting on lids.
