10 cent hotdogs and 50 cent admission: State Fair prices through the years

Today, advance online tickets to the fair will set you back $13, but in 1892, admission was only 50 cents. Read on to see how inflation changed the price of a day at the fair over the years.

1852: Admission to the first state fair was 20 cents.

1892: Admission to the first Indiana State Fair on the Indiana State Fairgrounds was 50 cents for adults, 25 cents for children.

1929: Visitors could purchase a hamburger or a hot dog for 10 cents.

1931: Admission was 50 cents (or a bushel of wheat) for adults and 25 cents (or a half bushel) for children.

1964: Tickets to see The Beatles perform were $2 to $5.

1983: A trip on the Fair Train from Carmel to Indy was $4 for adults and $2 for kids.

1994: A pork burger was $2.50 and a full pork dinner was $7.

1999: Admission was $4.

2005: Admission was $6.

2006: Admission was $8.

2012: Admission was $10 and there was a $5 parking fee for the first time.

2023: Admission was $11 and Midway tickets were $25.
