While there is still much more work to be done, more mainstream LGBTQ+ movies have broken their way into the white, cisgender male dominated cinema landscape — and the majority did so with raving reviews.
Whether it is a love story or a tale of friendship, it's important that everyone sees themselves represented on the silver screen. In the last couple of years alone, there have been several critically acclaimed films that clearly and accurately portray members of the LGBTQ+ community, from Oscar-winning Moonlight to Carol and Portrait of a Lady on Fire.

Moonlight
