The 10 Most Comfortable and Stylish Looks for Lounging Around the House
They year has brought many trends into the fashion space: wide leg pants, midi skirts, ballet flats, bow details and (what we consider one of the best!) cozy loungewear. Back in the day, we would never have left the house in sweatpants, sweatshirts, pajamas or other types of loungewear. But these days, it's not only the norm, it's considered trendy and chic. Plus, the trend has come a long way from just leggings and T-shirts — with endless styles like wide-leg joggers, teddy quarter zips, satin sets and knit pairings, it's easy to find a piece that's comfortable and also flatters you and makes you feel confident. We tapped celebrity stylist Eric Himel for his expert advice on the best loungewear looks for women that are not only cozy and comfy but ultra-chic too.
What is loungewear?
Loungewear includes a wide range of styles, from joggers and hoodies to yoga pants and silk sets. It is, as the name suggests, what you would wear to lounge in. Whether you are relaxing at home, spending time with friends or family or running errands around town, loungewear is a great way to keep you stylish without sacrificing warmth and comfort: fashionable pajamas you can wear wherever and whenever you want. Himel explains that loungewear was "a natural progression from the trend of wearing workout clothes that were not for working out."
What fabrics should you look for in loungewear?
When it comes to different fabrics, there isn't a "one size fits all" with loungewear. It really is up to personal preference, as every material and style looks and feels different on anyone. Generally, most loungewear pieces are made of nylon, spandex, sherpa, satin, knit or fleece, with maybe a few standard fabrics mixed in like cotton or polyester. Himel says the goal of loungewear is to make you feel comfy, so therefore soft fabrics with some stretch and breathability that aren't too restricting are key.
