12-Year-Old Senior Dog Surrendered to Shelter All Because His Owner Got Pregnant

This absolutely breaks our hearts.

Because the shelter environment is so scary and new, it can be hard to tell what kind of life an animal had before they arrived. Many are found as strays or rescues, but other unfortunate pets are surrendered by their own families. 12-year-old Lonnie is a sweet senior dog who had a family and a home before he was surrendered himself---all because his owner got pregnant.

Unsurprisingly, Lonnie was scared and shut down while in the shelter, so @thefarnetwork took to TikTok to spread the word. Surely someone will fall in love with this sugar-faced boy!

We feel so bad for Lennie, but we know he'll find the perfect home with a sweet face like that. Commenter @royalewitcheez asked, "Oh my he’s precious. Can you tell us anything about him? Personality?"

Though the rescue hadn't had enough time to get to know the old guy, they were happy just to get his name and image out for folks to see. Clearly, he touched a few hearts!

"It drives me nuts when I hear this," said @stacey.xx2. "A dog is for life! All my rescues have grown up with my kids it teaches them respect & love." We absolutely love that, though we wish Lonnie's first owners felt the same way.  Things worked out exactly how they should've, though, because this boy is going to an owner who deserves his undying love.

@Bradshaw262 first posted, "I live in Dallas and I want him if he is still available." How great is that? After other commenters rallied in support, they finally got the update they were all waiting for: "He’s pending adoption I get him Tuesday y’all!! "They have to get him neutered before they will let me have him. So Tuesday I go get him!!" We are beyond happy for you and Lonnie!
