Pantone revealed its color of the year 2020—and it's not political

Pantone swears their color of the year isn’t political. Actually, they mean for it to have an opposite effect. The authority in all things color has taken a distinctive turn away from the aggressive color ways of recent years (ahem, slime green of 2017), and Classic Blue is the result.
“Nonaggressive and easily relatable, the trusted Classic Blue lends itself to relaxed interaction,” Pantone says of their selection. “Associated with the return of another day, this universal favorite is comfortably embraced.”
The color is already a favorite of celebrities. Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton have each worn the distinctively royal hue a number of times. The shade is neutral and rich, making it universally flattering and easy to wear.
Per Pantone, the deep, bright blue shade “fosters resilience,” is a nod to stability and protection, and they hope incorporating it into your life will remind you slow down. “As technology continues to race ahead of the human ability to process it all, it is easy to understand why we gravitate to colors that are honest and offer the promise of protection.”
