You've been there: you like a guy, you drop hints you like him, aaaaand... nothing. Nada. You're brave enough to send a flirty Snap, but it goes unopened. You smile at him across the classroom, he just stares off into space. What gives?

The dudes over at AskMen on Reddit finally answered your prayers: they revealed why they've sometimes ignored girls they actually really liked. Take it from them — you're not crazy for wondering if a guy could have feelings for you and give you zero clues about it.

According to these guys, the most common reason for ignoring you is because they don't think you like them back.

They didn't think the girl liked them back.

2. "I needed validation that she liked me back and I never got that." — Quetzel

3. "I'll admit I've hung out with a lot of cool, attractive girls and tried to be more, just to be friend-zoned. I misread the situation. Being put in check like that... changes the dynamic afterwards, at least for me." — secrethandshake17

4. "Believed she didn't like me. Was saving my feelings." — iggybdawg

5. "Insecure that she liked me, couldn't really believe it, triggered hard." — a0wner1

6. "I knew she wasn't interested and it didn't seem fair to either of us, especially me, to hang out." — le_fez

7. "Not ignored per se, but avoided definitely. I'm currently doing that, as to not engage with her as much. Since I believe she's not interested in me (has turned me down a couple of times when asked out), so I'm just saving my feelings and I'll stop avoiding her when I'm comfortable around her again." — teeekuuu

They didn't want to look "desperate."

8. "To not come off as desperate, I've had great success with this method. This will not work with everyone." — Masaya14

9. "Usually because of fear that she would think I was weird/creepy and wouldn't like me back, or if I was afraid to appear too desperate." — medisinogpsykiatri

They were afraid to make a move.

10. "Too scared to do anything." — Swaggy_Mcswagson

The girl wasn't necessarily single.

11. "Avoiding them in hopes that I can destroy any feelings i have for them, because every time i talk to them, I fall for them all over again, and I know she is taken, so by avoiding her, I hope to stop those feelings." — Reaperdude97

12. "She knew I liked her and I saw her with a boy just tore me to shreds." — 2058Lynx

They didn't have time to pursue a relationship.

13. "I've only ever done that if I'm really busy." — 1340dyna
