This "13 Reasons Why" Easter Egg Is Crazy AF
WARNING: There are season 2 spoilers ahead!
The color blue has always played a major role in 13 Reasons Why. If you think back to season one, you'll remember that Hannah labeled each of her tapes with blue nail polish, and then wore that same color on the last day of her life.
Then at the Los Angeles premiere, several members of the 13 Reasons Why cast, including Michelle Ang (Courtney Crimsen), Amy Hargreaves (Lainie Jensen), and executive producer Selena Gomez wore blue nails to honor Hannah's character. According to Harper's Bazaar, Sel wore Sinful Colors Endless Blue.

A few weeks later, fans adopted the color to help raise suicide awareness. Hashtags like #BlueForHannah and #BlueFor13RW began trending.

Now, in season two of the show, it looks like the writers and producers found another way to incorporate the color blue. (Again, spoilers ahead!) Throughout the season, Clay received disturbing polaroid pictures, and each of them had a message on the back. Did you notice they were written with blue ink? The same blue Hannah used to number her cassette tapes?
Zach Dempsey eventually confessed he sent Clay the photos, but the blue ink on the back of the polaroids was never addressed. Here's a theory: Zach used blue ink to keep his identity a secret. After all, he knew Hannah used blue polish to label her tapes, so maybe this was his way of keeping Clay and the others distracted. Or maybe he wanted them to think the pictures were Hannah's doing? What do you guys think? Was the blue ink part of Zach's plan or just a coincidence?
Seventeen.com got the chance to chat with Ross Butler (Zach) and Devin Druid (Tyler), and as you might expect, we asked to hear their thoughts on this theory. Devin seemed to be on board, but Ross definitely needed some convincing.
"I think Zach knows the importance of the blue nail polish," Devin said.
"I don't think Zach is smart enough to make that decision," Ross argued.
