This $14.5 Million NorCal Abode Takes Its Design Cues From Frank Lloyd Wright
Frank Lloyd Wright is one of the world’s most notable architects, whose trailblazing style has inspired countless residential and commercial architectural designs. Wright was known for his use of natural materials, organic architecture, and a connection with nature. Most of his structures feature low-slung, flat roofs that appear to blend into the landscape. While this specific property at 6 Quail Meadow Drive in Woodside, California, wasn’t designed by Wright, his style permeates the entire home. This $14.5 million estate was designed in 1989 by architect William A. Churchill, who was heavily influenced by Wright’s design philosophy.
Woodside, a sleepy, affluent enclave on the edge of Silicon Valley, is known for its elegant variety of homes, from Italian-inspired mansions to historic trophy estates. High-profile past and current residents include Oracle founder Larry Ellison, Apple’s John Sculley, and SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son. This pedigreed property, spanning almost 3.5 acres, lies along one of Woodside’s most sought-after residential streets. The wood and stone residence, capped by a distinctive angular roof fitted with solar panels, spans 8,660 square feet with a total of five bedrooms, six full bathrooms, and two half-bathrooms.
