The 15 Best Trader Joe's Dips, Ranked by a Former Employee
Best Trader Joe's Dips
Whether you’re a Niners or a Chiefs fan, or just at a Super Bowl party for fun and food (or for the Taylor sightings), snacks are an essential part of the celebration. And no grocery does snacks quite like Trader Joe’s. The fan-favorite grocery store is a go-to spot for sweet and savory snacks, and fans rave about the cooler (and freezer section) full of dips.
The array of Trader Joe's dips is deep and vast, so choosing the ones that are right for your Super Bowl spread can be a little challenging. I worked at TJ's for three years and in that time I ate a lot of dips and also took note of what dips were flying off the shelves. Using all of that intel, I pulled together the 15 best Trader Joe's dips to make sure that even if the game doesn't go your way, the snacks sure will. Bonus: They're all priced under $5, so you can buy a few extras to make your spread extra special.
The Best Trader Joe's Dips Ranked
15. Truffle Dip
If you’re looking to elevate your dips for your Super Bowl party, this truffle dip is a sophisticated sauce that pairs well with pretzels and crackers. Truffles aren’t for everyone, but the flavor is mellowed with cream cheese, ricotta & parmesan cheese to create a creamy, delicious, umami-packed dip. Any leftovers would be great on a roast beef sandwich.
14. Roasted Tomatillo Salsa Verde
This is an essential TJ’s salsa that is almost always in stock and is priced affordably at $2.99. The salsa has a savory spice to it that's elevated by the freshness of the roasted tomatillos and jalape?os, plus a generous amount of cilantro. It’s perfect as-is with tortilla chips, but it's also one of the dips that's worth adding to your regular TJ's shopping list. When I worked at TJ’s, I’d use it as a topper to elevate the basic TJ’s frozen mac-n-cheese. The tangy sauce is also delicious with fish.
13. Vegan Buffalo Dip
It’s always good to have a range of options for friends with different dietary needs, and TJ’s Vegan Buffalo Dip is a dip that everyone will be happy to dig into. Its dairy-free deliciousness is amped up with just the right amount of spice. It’s not so spicy that it's off-putting for those who don’t like spicy foods, but just has the familiar buffalo flavor that's a must-have for a football game.
12. Tzatziki
This is another classic TJ’s item that is in my cart year-round. The yogurt-based dip will cool off your palate with its garlic cucumber creaminess, making it a perfect pairing for vegetables or naan bread. If you have leftovers after your Superbowl party, it’s great to serve with a gyro or falafel. TJ's also sells a vegan version of the dip that's also delicious.
11. Almond Chipotle Dip
Whether you eat a plant-based diet or not, this dip is the perfect dip for your Super Bowl party. The spiciness of the dip is balanced out by the smokiness of the chipotle peppers and the nuttiness of the almonds. This dip pairs well with many things—try it as a chip dip or a spread for a sandwich or burger.
10. Pico de Gallo (Hot)
What’s a Superbowl party without salsa and chips? Trader Joe’s has a whole shelf in the fridge dedicated to salsas and guac, but this is one of my favorites. The $2.99 price tag is an added bonus. A good amount of onion and cilantro give it a nice freshness and it has a subtle heat that keeps you coming back for more. You’ll be happy dipping your tortilla chips in this dip, or even happier using it as a topper for nachos.
9. Bruschetta Sauce
This is more of a topper than a dip, but it makes the perfect easy appetizer for your Super Bowl party. Just rub baguette slices with a cut clove of garlic and toast them in the oven (if you're feeling extra, add some cheese on top). It’s up to you whether you serve the bruschetta sauce directly on the bread, or have it in a bowl with a serving spoon so snackers can make their own.
8. Mediterranean Style Hummus
Sometimes, even I get overwhelmed by all the hummus options at TJ’s. When in doubt, I always go with a classic. With all the essentials for a good hummus—garbanzo beans, tahini, lemon juice, and garlic–this Mediterranean-style hummus has a familiar flavor and a creamy smooth texture that makes it the perfect dip for veggies or chips. It's a great dip to have in the mix to balance out all of the chips and cheese.
7. Pub Cheese

What’s a Superbowl party without a good cheese dip? TJ’s pub cheese is one of my favorites, whether you go with traditional cheddar or a fusion of flavors with cheddar and poignant horseradish, or jalape?os. Pick your favorite flavor, or pick up all three. Any chip or cracker will pair well with this dip, but the real MVP pairing for the pub cheese is pretzels.
6. Guacasalsa
Why get guacamole and salsa when you can have both dips in one? At $3.99, this fun fusion of two classic snacks is an easy way to stretch your budget. The spice of the tomatillo salsa and jalape?os is balanced by the creamy avocados and fresh cilantro to create a rich but still light dip.
5. Roasted Hatch Chile and Jalape?o Cheese Dip
It's nice to have a hot option at the party and this dip is the perfect blend of cheesy and spicy goodness. It’s a new item that won’t be on shelves for long, so it’s definitely worth grabbing if you see it in your store. Just heat it up in the microwave for two minutes or in the oven for 15 minutes for maximum melty cheesiness. Serve with chips or crackers or add it to your nachos for a fun twist on the classic snack.
4. Everything and the Elote Greek Style Yogurt Dip
If you love elote but don’t want to go through the trouble of manning the grill, this dip is for you. It has all the elements of your traditional elote—garlic, parmesan, chipotle pepper powder, and, of course, corn—combined with the zesty tartness of Greek yogurt that's a surprising smash. I love this dip with TJ’s Corn Chip Dippers, which are the perfect shape for a dipping chip. If you want to double down on the elote flavor, you can pair the dip with TJ’s Elote Corn Chip Dippers.
3. Crunchy Chili Onion Hummus
Trader Joe’s hummus was already good, but they really leveled it when they added their fan-favorite chili crisp to the mix. The traditional base of ground chickpeas and sesame seeds is elevated with garlic, onion, and of course, red chili, resulting in a savory and spicy dip with lots of fun texture.
2. Garlic & Asiago Cheese Dip
This is new and, like the Roasted Hatch Chile and Jalape?o dip, is a limited-time dip. Luckily though, it’s in stock for Super Bowl weekend. It’s a slightly elevated dip that you heat and serve, but it takes minimal effort. The blend of garlic, sour cream, and lots of cheese–cream cheese, asiago, and mozzarella, to be exact—is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. The only issue is this isn't a very generous serving, so if you're having a crowd you might want to pick up a few to make sure everyone can have some. Serve with chips, baguette slices, or veggies. I bet this one won't last past the first quarter.
1. Chunky Artichoke & Jalapeno Dip
This dip has been at TJ’s forever, and for good reason. It’s my favorite at all times of year, but it’s perfect for a Super Bowl party. It’s a classic dip flavor that's leveled up with a fun chunky texture. I love serving this with TJ’s garlic naan crackers to make sure I can scoop up the bits of artichoke and jalape?o.
