15 things every pet owner should get their dog for summer
It’s time to upgrade your dog’s accessories for summer.
Obviously, you’ve got the essentials stocked up at home, but just like humans, animals’ needs change with the weather. Instead of pulling out the same old toys from spring storage, take some time to consider things your pet might actually need for these next few warm months.
Items that can help a pet stay cool and hydrated are especially important this time of year. Dr. Evan Antin, veterinarian and host of Animal Planet’s “Evan Goes Wild,” tells Yahoo Lifestyle that when it comes to dogs, heat strokes are far more prevalent than one might think. Part of this is obviously because of how hot the summer months can get, and some symptoms going unnoticed have to do with how tough pups can be, says Antin.
Buying Fido some accessories like a portable water bowl, food bowl or even a shaded dog house can generally help a dog stay cool this summer and should be on every pet owners’ to-do list.
Along with the important, health-conscious measures a dog owner can take with these items, there are also some very fun summertime specific goodies that should be on the list. Because after-all, we’re all guilty of spoiling our furry friends.
