15th annual Pioneer Day festival

Apr. 29—The 15th annual Pioneer Day was held on Saturday in Smartsville. The event offered historic guided tours, music, and a story-telling area where historical characters and pioneer family members presented insights into early life in the area. There also were exhibits, a blacksmith demonstration and children's activities. Proceeds from the festival will help fund the historic Smartsville Church's restoration efforts.
