17 of Heidi Klum’s best ever Halloween costumes
"In our house it's Halloween all year round," Heidi Klum once told People. With an Oscar-winning make-up artist and prosthetics whizzes on speed dial, the mother-of-four means serious business when it comes to her spine-chilling fancy dress costumes.
This year was no exception for the supermodel. She promised fans her outfit would be one of her "most intense" costumes to date and she didn't disappoint.
Here's a look back at her some of her most frightful and dramatic personas from years gone by - from a robot, to Jessica Rabbit, to a wrinkle-covered granny...
2018: Princess Fiona
The model and television personality went with a Shrek theme this year. While she looked a spitting image of Princess Fiona, her boyfriend was transformed into Shrek for her 19th annual Halloween party at Lavo New York on Wednesday.
2015: Jessica Rabbit
Fictional character Jessica Rabbit was Klum's muse for the 2015 holiday. To get the voluptuous figure the model spent days prior to the party in a prosthetics lab, leading her Instagram following to suspect she might be dressing up as curvaceous Kim Kardashian.
2014: A winged wonder
In 2014 the supermodel transformed into a butterfly - a gigantic one, incorporating huge rainbow-hued wings and mesmerising bug eyes.
2013: Granny chic
For her make-under Klum was blessed with grey hair, lashings of wrinkles and pigmented skin. The German model, who hosted her annual bash at New York's Marquee nightclub, topped off her look with a bouclé skirt suit, pearls and a walking stick.
2012: Cleopatra comin' atcha
Klum's costume plans were thwarted in 2012 when Hurricane Sandy hit America's East Coast. Instead of letting her Cleopatra-inspired costume go to waste, the model changed the date to December 1 and had an extra month to perfect her look. Oscar and Emmy-winning make-up artist, Bill Corso, transformed the model's face with hundreds of carefully placed crystals, highlighting her cheeks, lips and the bridge of her nose. Talk about razzle dazzle.
2011 part one: the simian scamp
Covered head-to-toe in simian-like hair, Klum even secured a pair of prosthetic monkey breasts for her ape evolution in 2011. Heidi's husband of seven years, Seal, made for a menacing beau by her side.
2011 part two: blood, sweat and tears
There's nothing more eerie than wheeling into your own Halloween party on an autopsy table. With two blood-splattered doctors in tow, Klum told the MailOnline of her look: "It's kind of like a dead body with the first layer of skin ripped off. It's basically like me naked."
Klum's naked self was achieved by much airbrushing on top of a basic map of a dead body, drawn upon her skin and the skull cap atop her head. Add some red contact lenses and rotting teeth and bingo! Dead as a doornail.
2010: robo Klum
All Hallow's Eve 2010 saw Klum transform herself rather literally into a Transformer. The mother-of-four chose red and purple as her superhero colours and danced the night away (or not) in a pair of hydraulic crane shoes.
In contrast to his 8ft alien transformer wife, Seal played the silver-enrobed muscle man. Of their matching costumes, Klum promised to recreate the looks for their children, who love superheroes, at a later date.
2009: jailbirds
Reflecting on her crow costume, Klum revealed that the beak was actually rather cumbersome and made drinking most difficult. The wings also caused the 41-year-old and then-partner, Seal, problems in the car en route to the party venue.
2008: Hindu goddess Kali
Picture Hindu goddess Kali and you'll probably recall her multiple colourful arms. You probably won't envisage a bonus arm belt with bloody hands hanging off it, or a couple of decapitated heads clasped in her finger tips. Such was a blue-dipped Klum's interpretation of Kali in 2008.
2007: feeling feline
You can't blame the Halloween enthusiast for donning a catsuit once in her costume career. Good old Klum eschewed the sexy Catwoman vibe in favour of a velveteen kitty, complete with collar, whiskers and subtle feline fangs.
2006: original sin
Costume collaborator Martin Izquierdo recalls that the 2006 sinful apple was the most taxing costume of Klum's to create. Why? Because the German beauty was heavily pregnant at the time. Accompanying the bulbous, bloody apple - plus snake - to the spooky shindig was Seal, moonlighting as a buxom, blond Eve.
2005: be still my bleeding heart
Who knew vampires enjoyed burlesque fashion? With a bleeding heart pinned like a rosette on her corset and a cobweb cape trailing behind her, an ultra-curly Klum put other revellers to shame.
2004: the go-go witch
Heidi's date for Halloween in 2004 was a, erm, skeleton, which enjoyed a piggy-back on the model for the duration of the evening. The model, herself, chose a red witch as her guise and navigated her way around the soirée with a mammoth wooden broom to keep her patent heeled boots steady.
2003: golden girl
Touching down at the 2003 haunted Halloween bash was a gold space alien with metallic armour and thick braids bursting out of her golden helmet.
2002: Betty Boop
By golly, doesn't Betty Boop look ferocious! Bedecked in blingtastic fake jewels, Heidi vamped up the poor caricature of a Jazz Age flapper to within an inch of her flapper life.
2001: Lady Godiva
Klum kicked off her infamous Halloween career with a bang as a bloodied version of 11th-century Anglo-Saxon noblewoman, Lady Godiva. Rocking up to the 2001 party on horseback, in a latex catsuit and luminous, lengthy white wig, Klum stamped herself a serious spooky contender.
