My parents grew up in Italy, which has resulted in me having extremely high standards for Italian cuisine (and calling out my friends for their pronunciation of "bruschetta").

Even though I'm not Italian by blood, I feel pretty damn offended whenever I see iterations of their food. Here are 16 examples of "meals" that made me (and probably many Italians perusing the internet) gag:
."An Italian pissed me off today. This one is for you, Antonio."
."My dad lets the pasta cook for 45 minutes. I put a raw pennetta in the middle to give you an idea of how much the pasta swells. He eats it plain with no condiment. We're Italians."
."Meet shitty pasta salad! Pasta, thick cut pepperonis, havarti cheese, overripe Campari tomatoes, and spicy Italian dressing."
."A romantic candlelit Italian dinner for one. Chef Boyardee and dollar store garlic Texas toast. ??"
."Pesto, Alfredo, and marinara — aka the Italian flag — on tortellini."
."Spicy Italian sausages and Kraft Dinner. A true Italian classic. ??"
."Italian-American dish: baked ziti with dollar store ingredients. Roast me, please!"
."I ordered a 'salad' from a local Italian restaurant. They sent this."
."A local 'Italian' restaurant served us this sampler tray with 'focaccia.' Yes, they are hotdog buns, and my faith in humanity is dwindling by a thread. ??"
."An authentic Italian dinner salad. It clearly says so on all the packaging."
."Doing Italian for dinner tonight."
."A bagel made into garlic bread, topped with leftover meat pasta sauce. Italian sloppy Joe?"
."I made caprese with string cheese, cherry tomatoes, and Italian seasoning."
."Cannoli I got from an Italian food truck. The filling is cream cheese icing, and the red and green drizzle is PILLSBURY icing."
."Italian sausage on a burger bun."
.And finally, "This one is for all you beautiful Italians! Gustare. ??"
