Burberry went sheer and scandalous for its Spring/Summer 2016 collection

Burberry doesn't care about what's current. At the bare building blocks of their iconic style is, and will always be, British heritage. From the staple trenches, to expert craftsmanship, to even the inclusion of British music, Burberry is revolutionizing what style means across the pond.

Although Burberry normally brings relatively unknown musicians into the mix, this year, the fashion house put a 32-piece orchestra pit right at the center of the runway. The instrumentalists backed singer Alison Moyet on four incredible numbers that received an ovation.

But it wasn't just the music that had the audience in awe.

Their latest collection stayed true to European fashion's monochromatic tendencies. Blacks, golds, and creams were the primary color palette. But what set the looks apart from anything else this season was the inclusion of barely-there sheer fabrics. Models strutted down the runway in sexy lace dresses and thin tops that showed off a lot of skin. To balance it, Christopher Bailey paired it with chunky backpacks and heavy-duty toppers. The result were outfits that were visually dynamic and kept fashionistas on their toes.

It was a risky move -- but it seemed to have paid off. High praise for the show hasn't ceased, with many calling it the best collection of LFW.
