2024 Wisconsin State Fair: Here are finalists for this year's Drinkies, Sporkies awards
After a successful debut last year, Drinkies are back along with Sporkies at the 2024 Wisconsin State Fair.
The fair announced Wednesday that for the 2024 State Fair, four Drinkies and eight Sporkies will be judged by a panel of local celebrity judges on July 31 on appearance, presentation, creativity, originality and taste.
These culinary competitors were chosen from 37 food entrants and 20 beverages. All competitors will be on sale during the fair, which runs Aug. 1-11 at State Fair Park.
Here are this year's finalists.
Here are the Sporkies finalists
Cool Ranch Doritos Pickle, from Deep-Fried Mashed Potatoes On-a-Stick. A large dill pickle, spiral cut, on a stick, rolled in crushed Cool Ranch Doritos and deep-fried. Served with ranch dressing.
Deep-Fried Lemonade Bites, from Saz's BBQ. Hawaiian sweet rolls with a lemon curd filling, dipped in French toast batter and deep-fried, tossed with lemon sugar with a drizzle of icing.
Dirty Chai Cinnamon Roll Lumpia, from Lumpia City. Gooey cinnamon roll centers rolled up in a crispy lumpia wrapper, plus cream cheese espresso frosting.
Elote Corn Ribs, from Tropics. Corn on the cob tossed in hickory-smoked batter and deep-fried, then dusted with cotija cheese. Served over kettle chips with a side of elote dip and a lime wedge.
Elvis Nachos, from Slim McGinn's Irish Pub. Deep-fried potatoes chips covered with peanut butter banana sauce and topped with chopped peanuts, chopped banana chips and crumbled bacon.
Hot Ham and Glazers, from Bud Pavilion. Hot ham and melted Swiss cheese drizzled with raspberry jam — between two Kwik Trip Glazer donuts.
Loaded Baked Potato Churro, from WürstBar. Think baked potato loaded with bacon, cheddar cheese and chives, but with a deep-fried outer layer. Sour cream and onion dipping sauce on the side.
Rise and Swine, from Camp Bar. A brioche-based waffle topped with vanilla custard, maple syrup, caramel sauce and two breakfast sausage links.
Here are the Drinkies finalists
Fairway Fusion, from Old Fashioned Supper Club. A variation on the Arnold Palmer. Equal parts sweet tea and lemonade, plus pineapple and key lime juices, coconut syrup and mint leaves.
Glazed Donut Coffee Float, Fluffy's Hand Cut Donuts. Donut-infused iced coffee over vanilla ice cream, with a glazed donut hole and crumbles.
Purple Pickle Lemonade, from Tropics. Lemonade mixed with pickle juice and baby dill pickle, with Butterfly Pea Flower for color.
Tropical Sunset, from Deep-Fried Mashed Potatoes On-a-Stick. Jasmine green tea infused with strawberry, mango, and pineapple juice, plus edible glitter.
