You may already know that NASA's new James Webb telescope released its first images today, among them this gorgeous photo showing a tiny piece of the night sky that's chock-full of galaxies. The astounding thing — besides the sheer number of galaxies in one small area of the sky — is that the telescope's capabilities are allowing us to see galaxies that are billions of light-years away, meaning we're seeing them as they were billions of years ago.
