25th annual Oak Leaf Festival goes out with a bang, despite the weather
OAK HILL, WV (WVNS) – The 25th annual Oak Leaf Festival went going out with a bang.
The final day consisted of a chili cookoff on Main Street in Oak Hill. They are also had fireworks to finish off the festival.
They have an amusement park set up behind Chase Bank and bands are performed throughout the festival. The biggest concern going into the events on Sunday, August 1 at the festival was the threat of weather.
25th Annual Oak Leaf Festival continues through the weekend
Oak Leaf Festival Director, Saundie Smith said, “As long as it is not thundering or lightning where somebody can get hurt, water does not hurt. [The Oak Leaf Festival] is a celebration for the community to come out and enjoy, and them to come out and support us.”
The only thing they had to watch out for was the electrical equipment used to operate the rides and music.
