This 3-Year-Old’s Playroom Has a Mini Target Store and Starbucks Inside, and We're Jealous
We recently saw inside the rainbow-tastic and unicorn-themed playroom of Ayesha and Stephen Curry's kids, which was styled by Flour Shop's Amirah Kassem using pieces from her new FLOUR line at Pottery Barn. It was a playroom we would have KILLED for as a child, to say the least. But today, we have a new favorite: this Milwaukee playroom. The space, which a mom designed for her 3-year-old daughter, recently went viral for its super creative theme. There’s a good chance that you frequent at least one of the businesses incorporated into this playroom.
Mom Renèe Leann posted a few photos to Facebook this month of her daughter's playroom, which features a mini Target store...complete with a Starbucks stand. Now, let us remember that Target and Starbucks play structures cannot be purchased in stores, meaning these pieces were completely handmade. In other words, this mom got super creative and went above and beyond to make this space special for her daughter.
Leann explains in the post that she used a Melissa and Doug shopping center set (which explains where the cash register came from) to create the pretend Target store. For Starbucks, she used a cube storage unit, and then painted over it to give it that Seattle coffee roaster feel. Along with the helping hands of her friends and other family members, including her sister who is a graphic designer, she was able to replicate the Target and Starbucks shopping experience for her daughter, but in miniature form. I seriously can't get over how realistic those Target clearance signs look, or that Starbucks menu. Plus, the fact that there are signs advertising Target Circle is amazing—this little girl is learning real business skills in her playroom.
Leann writes in her post that "Ariah’s [her daughter] favorite store is Target and of course Starbucks are in most Target stores," which explains why she decided to pair these franchises together. If you ask me, that's a pretty smart move. Now, if she ever wants to pretend she's at Target or Starbucks, but without spending actual money (I mean, who isn't guilty of overspending at Target) all she has to do is step inside her daughter's playroom. Genius!
While designing a playroom this elaborate might not be on your agenda, it appears some of the accessories in the playroom are available for purchase, such as the Starbucks pretend drinks. Dropping a few into your child's current play kitchen set could really jazz things up.
