The 3 Super-Simple Meals Jenna Bush Hager Makes Every Week for Dinner

Whether you're making dinner for one or making it for five, everyone knows how stressful coming up with new dishes can be. From trying to appease everyone's palate to keeping young ones excited about eating, dinner can be one of the most exhaustive parts of the day if you don't have it all planned out in advance. Thanks to Jenna Bush Hager though, there's a simple solution to making dinner simple: serve the same thing each week.

In a recent interview for the latest cover story of People, the Today co-host revealed that while she's no Martha Stewart in the kitchen, her weeknight dinner routine helps keep things grounded in her household. So what is it exactly that she makes on repeat for her husband Henry and their three children Mila (10), Poppy (8) and Hal (4)? Well, not surprisingly, tacos are on the list.

"We have turkey tacos one night, sausage with peppers the next, and then we make bowls,” she said to People. Noting that the routine is a nod to her own southern upbringing with former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush, Jenna said that it offers everyone in the house a sense of knowing what's going to be eaten on certain nights in the midst of their busy schedules.

“This is exactly what I was raised on, where we had the same meals every night," she told the outlet. "What I’m making is not Julia Child, let’s put it that way. I’m not Martha Stewart."

While the host may not be aiming for the title of most decorated cook, she is making strides to live a happy, care-free life both in and out of the kitchen. "I try not to put too much pressure on myself for perfection, because I’m nothing close to that," she said. "I find perfection to be wildly boring.”

In the interview, the host — who lived out a large portion of her life under the public eye — also discussed how she's dealt with scrutiny, lessons she learned from her parents, the one promise her father broke to her after he became president, and more.
