If you're thinking about having sex or you've already started, you may have asked yourself the question: What would I do if I got pregnant? Even safe sex comes with a risk of pregnancy. Sometimes condoms break or maybe there's an issue with how your IUD was implanted. There's a chance you didn't have safe sex and now you're left wondering what would happen if you skipped a period and then realized you were pregnant. Even though an unplanned pregnancy can be scary, you definitely have some options.

One option is abortion (or a procedure that terminates a pregnancy). According to Planned Parenthood, a nonprofit organization that provides sexual health care, abortion is common - 3 in 10 women in the U.S. will have an abortion by the time they’re 45 years old. The issue with abortion is that there are a lot of myths surrounding the procedure (check out our video debunking them here). Search the term "abortion" on Google or YouTube and you're likely to encounter a lot of scary and false information that isn't actually representative of the procedure or the people who have experienced it.
