2. Patriotic Yard Bowling

You’ll want to start saving your cans for this DIY Fourth of July game because you’ll need 10 of them. Make sure they are painted red, white and blue beforehand so they can dry. To play, divide into two teams—boys versus girls, kids versus parents, etc. Then, arrange the cans in a pyramid shape and use a Wiffle ball or some other type of ball to knock them down.

3. United States Trivia

Prepare a set of questions all about American history and 4th of July history beforehand. Have each question on a card that is numbered and all of the answers written on a separate sheet of paper. Take turns drawing cards and guessing the answers. The person with the most correct answers by the time the card stack runs out wins.

Think of this game as an Easter egg hunt, only with small flags instead. It’s an especially great July 4th game for younger kids. All you need are several tiny American flags—like the ones you can find at the Dollar Store. Then, all you have to do is hide them in your backyard or inside your house. Remember to mark one of the flags so it’s different from the others. Whoever ends up finding that flag gets a special prize.

Make a list of 4th of July-themed items, like finding a flag, finding something blue, finding something with a President’s face on it, etc. Then, tell everyone playing that the first person to complete the list, wins.
