It’s no secret we’re living in an unprecedented time. We’ve all been affected by the coronavirus pandemic in many ways, including economically, socially, and even recreationally with adjusted riding routines and the loss of race days and group rides. So while one in five adults in the U.S. experienced mental illness in 2018, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, it’s no surprise the numbers of people experiencing serious fear and stress have spiked in recent months.

In fact, Mental Health America saw a 19 percent increase in screenings for clinical anxiety in the first weeks of February and a 12 percent increase in the first two weeks of March.

If you’re feeling tense, anxious, sad, lonely, or hey, you’re overwhelmed by all of the above, take comfort in knowing that you are not alone and there are many resource options out there to help you feel better. Best of all, you don’t even have to leave home to use them.

Whether you need a simple meditation to pick you up and out of a funk one day or you’re looking for ongoing therapy sessions led by a pro, these apps, sites, and hotlines make taking care of your mental health a little easier. Try a bunch or stick to one. Just remember, you’re never alone, even if it feels like that right now.

Social distancing can feel lonely, but you are not alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, Text HOME to 741741 from anywhere in the United States, anytime for the Crisis Text Line. A live, trained Crisis Counselor receives the text and responds on a secure online platform.
