33rd annual Mount Hope Jubilee

MOUNT HOPE, WV (WVNS) –The 33rd annual Mount Hope Jubilee is coming up and will feature music, an alumni gathering, a parade and more.

Every year, the event falls on the third Friday and Saturday of September. This year all the fun kicks off on September 20th.

The jubilee was originally held to pay homage to the coal miners, then was attached to the homecoming of Mount Hope High School – which has since shut down in 2011. However, with so many alumni, the event is now known as a reunion.

“My favorite part of the Jubilee is to sit here in front of it and listen to the entertainment and have people come up to me and tell me how much they enjoyed being here,” said Patty Logan, Chairperson of the Mount Hope Jubilee.

The event will include live music, food, arts, crafts and games. A hula hoop contest for children will also be featured as well as the second annual rubber duck race.
