5 power yoga workouts to sweat it all out

A 30-minute sequence combining power moves and stretching

If you’re looking for a power sequence that is both challenging and restorative--the best of both worlds, IMO--consider this practice from Travis Eliot. For the first 15 minutes, you’ll move through an intermediate-level power flow. In the second half of class, you’ll stretch out your warmed-up muscles through more restorative postures. Named “Flow and Stretch,” the class is the perfect combination of sweat-inducing movements with stress-relieving poses.

A 15-minute power yoga class for when you’re short on time

Only have a few minutes to spare? You don’t need an hour-long practice to work up a sweat and loosen up your muscles. This power yoga flow from Cat Meffan is the perfect practice if you don’t want a beginner-oriented class--or one designed for an advanced practitioner. In this sequence, you’ll flow through a series of fast-paced movements, as well as more restful poses, fusing restorative breathwork with strength-building postures. This is a great class to try first thing in the morning or as a midday break.

A morning power flow to start your day

Prefer to practice right when you wake up? Try this 30-minute power yoga sequence from Jessica Richburg. In this flow, you’ll move through a series of energizing postures, including Virabhadrasana III (Warrior III Pose) and High Lunge, as well as some hip-opening movements that will invigorate your entire body. You’ll head into your day feeling energized and centered.
