6 Reasons Why You Might Not Be Seeing Angel Numbers—and How To Start

Has there ever been a time in your life when you saw the same number constantly popping up all around you and it made you feel like the universe was trying to tell you something? If so, chances are you were probably right! In fact, what you were experiencing was most likely one of your guardian angels trying to communicate with you and send you a message through angel numbers.
Having angel numbers appear in your day-to-day life can feel incredibly magical. However, if you’ve been seeing them for a while and then suddenly you start noticing them less and less, (or they vanish altogether), it might make you wonder where they went. After all, they had become something you cautiously kept an eye out for and had become part of your life, so having them disappear on you can be quite shocking.
To find out exactly why that might have happened, we spoke to several experts, including Los Angeles-based numerologist and author Novalee Wilder, numerologist and psychic medium Kelly Brickel, and spiritual hypnotherapist, Dr. Andrea Shakarian, who’s been studying numerology for the past 15 years.
They all shared reasons why you're not seeing angel numbers and revealed that while everyone can see angel numbers, there are certain reasons why some people see them more than others. Why Don't I See Angel Numbers?
You don’t need guidance
Don’t take it as a bad sign if you’ve stopped seeing angel numbers. Wilder says it could actually be a good thing and mean that you’re on the right path because angel numbers are supposed to provide someone with guidance and direction. So, if you’re currently in a good place, there is no reason for your angels to interfere. “Your guardians will only offer insights when needed,” Wilder explains. “Not seeing angel numbers could mean you’re less in need of that form of general guidance at that time.”
You’re spiritually closed off
Shakarian reveals that if you don’t believe that you have guardian angels, it could actually impact whether or not you’re able to see angel numbers. “People who are more open to spirituality and trust in the divine to guide them are more likely to notice angel numbers and to draw some significant meaning from them,” she explains.
Brickel agrees, adding, “Angel numbers are happening all around us every day in all things, so you might have to make an intention to open yourself up to having number sequencing more present in your life if you’re not currently seeing them.”
There’s not a lot of energy present
No need to worry if you’re not seeing angel numbers. “Not seeing angel numbers does not indicate that there is anything wrong with you,” Wilder points out. “One might see angel numbers more or less in periods in their life when the energy they represent is more present and active. As we evolve spiritually, we might go deeper with other spiritual tools or fields and the angel numbers will take a step back from our immediate attention.”
A new guardian is coming into your life
Did you know that it’s possible to have more than one guardian angel? When you stop seeing angel numbers, Wilder says that it could be because you have a new guardian angel coming into your life to provide you with insight and you have to get used to how they communicate. “In some cases, different guides might use different means of connecting with you, where you once might have had obvious forms of connections, they might become more subtle,” she says.

Why Do I Keep Missing Angel Numbers?
You’re looking in the wrong places
Sometimes, it’s not that you can’t see angel numbers, it’s that you don’t know where to find them. In that case, when your guardian angel is sending you signs, you’re not recognizing them. So where are some places they could be appearing?
“You can see angel numbers in various locations,” Shakarian shares. “For instance, a popular place to see them is on a clock, like when someone sees 11:11. 1111 is a powerful manifesting number and anything that you think about or desire when seeing that number has a greater potential to come to fruition.”
Besides clocks, Brickel says that angel numbers can also appear in a ton of other places. “You might see them in addresses, on T-shirts, bills, receipts, billboards, signs and even license plates,” she explains.
You aren’t paying attention
Even if you happen to know places where angel numbers can appear, you can still miss them if you’re not paying close enough attention. “Angel numbers are constant number sequences that pop up, so when you aren’t looking for signs, sometimes you don’t notice what's right in front of you,” Brickel explains. “Intention and realization are key. These numbers may be around us every day, but the magic is when you feel like you are grabbed to look up, look right, look left, or you ask for a sign and it shows up in a way that lets you know there is a force bigger than just our own intention at play.”

How Can I See Angel Numbers?
Don’t try to force yourself to see them
“When you overthink or try to control the way messages can come to you, you can stress the natural flow and cues of allowing our bodies, mind and spirit to sync up with something much greater than just ourselves,” Brickel reveals. “The universe, which is a collective intelligence, has a greater rhythm than our own internal clock or perceptions. We are a ripple in a mighty ocean. You have to let the overseeing tide guide you to shore.”
Ground yourself
“Being in alignment is being with what is, so if you are rushing and feel frazzled, instead of looking for angel numbers, try doing grounding practices, like dancing, walking, meditating or any household chore while being as present as possible,” Wilder suggests. Shakarian adds that the more time you spend in meditation, the more in tune you’ll become with your spiritual guidance system because it’ll open up your third eye chakra.
Be patient
Just because you want to see an angle number, doesn’t mean you instantly will. It’s important to remember that angel numbers aren’t something you can control. “Angel numbers are all about the universe communicating with you,” Brickel discloses. “It’s your job to be open to understanding its code and if you believe you’ll see them, then it’s just a matter of relaxing and enjoying the ride until you do.”
Open yourself up to receive them
It can be easy to not believe in something if you have never experienced it. However, with angel numbers, you have to keep your mind open to the possibility of them showing up sporadically and when the timing is right. Everyone’s journey is different, but when your guides are trying to communicate with you, Wilder says you’ll know. “You can't miss what is intended for you,” she claims. “Simply setting the intention and being willing to see and notice the signs coming your way will open you up to seeing angel numbers.”
Have faith
With angel numbers, the key is to always be looking for them and to trust that you’ll eventually see them. “Always try to pay attention to the numerical vibrations trying to catch your eye,” Brickel advises. “In turn, you can connect and gain insights into your life. Once you do, your consciousness will start to awaken and you’ll find yourself more connected with the universe.”
