6 Warm and Comfy Women’s Winter Cycling Jackets We Love
Endura Women’s Windchill Jacket II
As a former bike shop employee, I’m always on the lookout for customer-pleasing apparel pieces—ones that offer good looks, great performance, and a terrific price. The Endura Women’s Windchill II Jacket is one of those pieces. The front and sleeves of the Windchill are constructed of waterproof fabric that blocks wind and elements while keeping you warm. The sides and back use a lighter, stretchy fabric that’s similar to what you’d find on a thermal long sleeve jersey. Three pockets line the back (the side ones were a bit small for my taste), and there’s one decently sized waterproof zipper pocket too. A small zipper pocket on the front offers an attached square of microfiber fabric designed for wiping glasses. The Windchill is a little bigger and less tailored than many other articles of women’s bike apparel, but it still looks great on. Reflective accents are found on both the sleeves and back.
Due to the jacket’s thin rear panel, I was initially skeptical that it would be warm enough—during the first few minutes of a 35-degree morning ride in the woods, I shivered as the breeze blew on my back. But as my body warmed up, I felt warm and cozy. I run warm naturally, and often get sweaty fast when I’m overdressed on cold rides; this jacket’s lighter back really helped prevent me from overheating. Plus, with the roomy, comfy cut, there’s plenty of space to layer underneath, which makes me confident that this jacket can hold its own in lower temperatures or on breezy road rides.—Taylor Rojek
