61st annual Air Capital Fly-in at Jabara Airport

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The 61st annual Air Capital Fly-in was held at Jabara Airport on Saturday.

The event is the longest-running aviation event in the state of Kansas. Kids aged 8 to 17 who attended the event were given the opportunity to get a free airplane ride with an experienced pilot.

“We’re the spirit of aviation,” Fly-in Charman Bob Blanton said. “And our mission is to promote aviation, and educate our members and educate children and bring them on.”

Those who took the chance to go up said it was magical.

“It was so much fun. It’s feeling weightless. I love being in the air. It’s just a completely different world up there. It just looks so different,” said Anthony Sirico, who went on the plane.

There were contests and flight competitions for pilots, as well as airplane displays, food and entertainment.
