WATCH: 8 Beauty Lessons We Learned From Jackie Kennedy

Jackie Kennedy was one of the most photographed women in the world and she always looked good in those pictures. Jackie was known for her classic style that also managed to be on trend. That extended from her pillbox hats to her exquisite fashion sense and her beauty regimen. While Jackie was born with good looks, she also did the ground work necessary to maintain her natural beauty—she was incredibly athletic, regularly exercised, and ate properly (it helps to have the White House chef on hand)—and stuck to a careful beauty regimen that lasted her entire life. While we can’t all have Jackie’s good looks, we can all learn from her beauty lessons:

Choose a Haircut that Works for You and Stick with It

Jackie’s sleek bouffant was created by celebrity hairstylist Kenneth Battelle, who also styled the likes of Lauren Bacall, Marilyn Monroe, and Katharine Hepburn. Jackie’s look wasn’t easy to master, as it involved rollers and copious amounts of hairspray, but once she found a style that worked for her, she stuck with it.

Big Hair, Don’t Care

Not that we need to tell any Southern girl, but big hair is always in style. Jackie proved that time and time again with her perfectly voluminous layers and shining brown locks.

Power Brows

Jackie had power eyebrows way before power brows were a thing. Her brows managed to look both completely natural and well groomed, working as a perfect frame for her face.

Find the Right Beauty Regimen for Your Skin

Jackie may have been a natural beauty, but she also had access to the top people in the beauty industry, took great care of her skin, and religiously used Erno Laszlo’s Phormula 3-9 cream to maintain her complexion. We can’t all be born with great skin, but we can all find a skin care regime that works—even Audrey Hepburn claimed, “I owe 50 percent of my beauty to my mother and the other 50 percent to Erno Laszlo.”

Every Woman Needs a Signature Scent

Jackie knew that part of making a lasting impression required a signature scent. For that, Jackie opted for the distinctive Joy by Jean Patou known as the world’s most expensive perfume. Like with the rest of her classic style, though, Jackie did switch things up occasionally, swapping in the distinctive Lovely Patchouli 55 blend created by Krigler Perfumes.

Don’t Shy Away from a Bold Lip Color

Jackie O may have leaned towards a natural look, but she was also a big fan of a bold lip. It’s rare to see a photo of her without a distinctive lip color either a bright coral, delicate pink, or striking red. Lipstick is an easy way to make a casual outfit look sophisticated.

Vacation Style is Still Style

Jackie O was a world traveler, yet always managed to look stylish thanks to a stripped-down vacation look of simple, slicked back hair, minimal make-up, and oversized sunglasses. It was casual, but completely elegant, too.

Sunglasses, Sunglasses, Sunglasses

No matter what kind of day you are having, you always have time to throw on a pair of oversized sunglasses. The large frames can make even the most tired outfit look fashionable. Throw on a face-flattering pair of sunglasses before you head to the grocery store and you just might find yourself sashaying down the aisle of the Piggly-Wiggly.
