Today’s best silk sheets are a far cry from their old bachelor pad–adjacent stereotypes. Not only are silk sheets considered one of the most luxurious types of bedding you can invest in, but their unique fabric also comes with a slew of wellness benefits.
“Silk provides superior comfort and health perks, compared to other fibers,” explains Wendy Zhang, the brand lead at Lilysilk. “Silk’s smooth surface can help reduce friction, which in turn minimizes skin irritation and prevents creasing on sensitive skin. It’s also beneficial for those with conditions like eczema or psoriasis, as the gentle fabric doesn’t aggravate symptoms.” And because silk is a natural material (derived from silkworms), it’s also inherently temperature regulating and sweat wicking.
Everyone from hot sleepers to beauty enthusiasts stands to benefit from using silk sheets; the only question is which luxe set is right for you. To help you transform your bedroom into a deluxe retreat, we’ve pored over dozens of options online and scoured customer reviews to find the eight best silk sheets below.

What to consider when shopping for silk sheets
Momme weight: Momme measures the density of silk, and the higher the momme weight, the thicker (read: more durable) your bedding will be. "It also means that it will be more resistant to tearing and stretching," explains Zhang, who recommends buying sheets with a momme weight of 19 to 25.
Certification: While pure silk may be natural, look for additional certifications—like OEKO-TEX Standard 100—for extra quality control. "This ensures that the silk sheets are free from harmful chemicals and safe for human use," says Zhang.
What's the difference between silk and satin?
Though both can look and feel quite similar, the difference comes down to quality. Silk is a natural protein fiber, which, according to Zhang, makes it breathable, hypoallergenic, thermo-regulating, and even biodegradable. Satin, on the other hand, refers mainly to a weave pattern—and while it can be made from silk, it's typically made from synthetic fibers.
Are there any downsides to silk sheets?
Due to the labor-intensive production process involved, true silk bedding tends to be cost-prohibitive. Weigh the pros and cons before deciding whether to invest—if you love the feel but can't swing the higher price tag, consider a satin blend.
Another downside to silk bedding is that it tends to be more finicky. "Silk requires more careful handling than other fabrics," says Zhang. For best results, she recommends dry cleaning or hand-washing most silk sheets.
