At a very young age I started becoming under the influence but as soon as that reality hit me in the face and I got a clear look of how my life would look in the future if I continued down that path, I wanted to change.”

He says, “I had a successful platinum album and I was about to do another album. I don’t think anybody envisioned me having a serious acting career, but I loved cinema.” He credits meeting Penny Marshall who cast him in the movie Renaissance Man with giving him his start.

Wahlberg told the Today show that he’s very open about his faith, but at the same time he doesn’t force his beliefs on his children. He says, “They know that Dad can’t start the day without being in prayer, can’t start the day without reading my Scripture or going to Mass. And hopefully, instead of forcing that on them, they’ll say, ‘Well, if it works for Dad, maybe it’ll work for us,’ and they’ll kind of gravitate towards it on their own.”
