9-year-old girl's 'very well drawn' picture of suspects' truck may help police catch porch pirates
One nine-year-old girl may have a future as a police sketch artist, but for now, her artistic skills are being utilized by police in Utah in the hopes of catching two suspected porch pirates.
A Springville Police Department corporal was investigating a package theft that had taken place in the neighborhood when he came across a young witness who remembered she had seen a red truck following a mail truck around.
When Cpl. Curtis asked the young girl to describe the vehicle, she was able to provide him with a "very well drawn picture," including dents in the truck and a tall, four-poster rack on the truck's rear.
Thanks to the girl's attention to detail, authorities were able to spot a similar truck on a surveillance video near the scene of the crime.
"Here at SVPD we leave no stone unturned when it comes to investigating misdeeds in Springville City," the police department shared on Facebook.
Plenty of people on social media were impressed with the girl's meticulousness.
"That little girl has a very bright future," one person commented. "She even drew the rails attached to the bed of the truck. Awesome!"
"Are they hiring a sketch artist?" one person asked. Another added, "Swear that kid in!"
According to police, the occupants of the truck were a man and woman. Anyone with information regarding the package theft is encouraged to call the department.
A representative for the Springville Police Department did not immediately respond to Yahoo Lifestyle’s requests for comment.
