CHILLICOTHE – He wants to help people – in a different way.

“As a kid I played in a lot of sports,” recalled Allen Carl. “I was also interested in helping people when I grew up. It went from being a firefighter to a police officer, then finally I came around to media production like video and photography. When I graduated high school, I wanted to be in the field of video production. As the years went on and I graduated college I jumped from one job to another just trying to keep my head above water.”

“I finally came across commercial nuisance wild animal control on the Ohio Division of Wildlife website,” he added. “I started reading about it and found I could get a license to trap nuisance wildlife. I joked around with my buddies for a while and made these crazy plans on how we could do nuisance wildlife control and make money. At the time they wanted to do it, but it quickly fizzled out and I was the only one left still contemplating on whether or not it could work out. I finally made the jump and have been in business for 5 years now – and I never would have guessed I would be doing this for a living.”

Today, Carl owns and operates Muddy Waters Wildlife Control.

“We provide services for many different types of wild animals,” he explained. “We remove and exclude animals from homes and businesses. We also provide services for inspections, small to medium animal carcass removal, minor repairs for entry ways that animals may be entering a structure, animal deterrents, repellants and feces cleanup.”

Carl, 33, grew up in Chillicothe, graduated from Chillicothe High School in 2009, then went to Wilmington College to major in communications with a concentration in media production and minor in horticulture.

“The reason why I wanted to start a business like this,” he said, “is that I could still help people, but in a different way. I also wanted to own my own business since I graduated high school. I’ve always been a hard worker and I always take pride in the work I do. By owning my own business, I can control the amount of time I work, I can control the workflow, and I can provide a better quality of service.”

“Allen is very diligent in responding to customers,” assessed Schrader. “One of the things we constantly hear is how he always answers his phone or calls back immediately. He’s very professional and takes his time explaining the job and processes. He takes pride in doing a good job and leaving every client happy.”

“Looking back,” Carl responded, “I would say I’m pleased with where life’s path has taken me. I’ve had my ups and downs throughout my life, just like everyone else. I learned from all these experiences. It’s led me to where I am today.”
