Actor Richard Gere and wife dine out in New Rochelle. What did they have?
Celebrities: They're just like us!
Northern Westchester residents Richard Gere and Alejandra Silva spent last Saturday night at Maria Restaurant in New Rochelle, based on the recommendation of a friend. And, just like me, they enjoyed the truffle green beans, a specialty of the house (and a "Best Thing I Ate" earlier this year)
Chef/Owner Giovanni Cucullo, who posted their visit on Instagram, said the couple also enjoyed whole roasted eggplant, salmon tartarte, burrata, delicata squash, octopus and branzino, among other dishes (Cucullo couldn't help himself and sent over a bunch of dishes). His Italian restaurant, after all, is named after his mother, Maria, and feeding people is an expression of love and appreciation.
Entertainment: What Westchester locations made it into season two of HBO's 'The Gilded Age'?
The Italian restaurant, which he owns with his brother Peter, relies a lot on local, seasonal ingredients as well as modern twists on classic favorites. Since 2020, it has consistently been named a Michelin Bib Gourmand, which according to Michelin, means "good food at a moderate price."
