Kristin Cavallari and former NFL player Jay Cutler announced yesterday that they are splitting up after 10 years together and seven years of marriage. Speculation emerged that rumors of Cutler cheating on Cavallari with her longtime best friend Kelly Henderson may have ended the two's relationship. A source made it clear to People that that is absolutely not the case.

The couple's breakup has "absolutely nothing to do" with Henderson (who Cavallari has since fallen out with) or rumors of cheating, People's source said. The real reason is just incompatibility. "Kristin and Jay are a lot different. She has so much on her plate, with her brands and with the show [Very Cavallari]."

"Jay is not as interested in all of that," the source continued. She's so passionate about her work and they couldn’t relate to each other as much. So it pulled them apart."

That source added that Cutler and Cavallari had been struggling for a while.

"Kristin and Jay had been having problems for a long time," the source said. "They hadn't spent much time together in recent months. On their recent trip [to the Bahamas, where they stayed for three weeks], they already knew they were splitting up. The reason they announced it now is because it’s a quiet time for them to work through all of this and try to move forward."

Cutler and Cavallari have three children together. Cavallari announced their breakup on her Instagram yesterday. She wrote:

With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce. We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of. This is just the situation of two people growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this difficult time within our family.
