Is Adam Ruzek Leaving 'Chicago P.D.'?
An original character's life hung in the balance when the screen went black on Chicago P.D.'s Season 10 finale. Fans expected to learn what happened to Adam Ruzek, played by Patrick John Flueger, this September. But the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes delivered another plot twist, delaying the return of the show until both unions have new contracts.
It's a bummer for Chi-Hards, who recently saw another original squad member, Senior Detective Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), depart for a new job with the Army. Will a second critical character depart next? Viewers have to wait until at least 2024 to find out.
Meantime, here's what we do know about Season 11 of Chicago P.D.

Will there be a Chicago P.D. Season 11?
Yes. NBC picked up Chicago P.D. for a Season 11 in April. It was slated to premiere in the fall. However, the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes forced the Peacock network to delay the premiere indefinitely, until at least 2024.
What happened at the end of Season 10 of Chicago PD?
Officer Adam Ruzek blows his undercover mission—which was intended to help apprehend white supremacist and domestic terrorist Richard Beck (Lee Tergesen)—when Samantha Beck (Caitlin Mehner) reveals that she's planning to skip town with her son, Callum (Graham Harvey).
Sergeant Henry "Hank" Voight (Jason Beghe) and Assistant State Attorney Nina Chapman (Sara Bues), who have famously butted heads, work together to give Samantha total immunity. The catch: She has to cooperate. Samantha relents, prompting a large-scale raid that comes up mostly empty.
Ruzek helps Samantha and Callum pack for a "camping trip" (a safe house, but that's what they told Callum for his sake). In the middle of packing, Ruzek finds Callum on the phone with Richard, his grandfather. As he hangs up, Callum points a gun at Ruzek and shoots. Samantha and her son leave the scene.
Ruzek gets ahold of his phone and calls Officer Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati), his on-again love interest. Samantha is arrested, and Officer Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) shoots and kills Richard, who attempted to use his grandson as a human shield in a last-ditch effort to save himself.
Can Ruzek be saved? He looked pretty worse for the wear, but it's an answer we won't find out until Season 11 drops.

What is the release date for Chicago P.D. Season 11?
NBC has not announced a release date for the 11th season of Chicago P.D. The show was initially slated for a fall release when it was renewed in April. However, the ongoing strikes have delayed all three shows in the One Chicago franchise.
Is Ruzek leaving Chicago P.D.?
It's unclear. The Season 10 finale of Chicago P.D. ended in a cliffhanger, and Ruzek's fate after getting shot is unknown. Last we heard, he was entering emergency surgery. Neither NBC nor Flueger have announced plans for Ruzek to exit the show, but they also haven't confirmed that he'll be back for some or all of Season 11 (and beyond).
Who is cast in Season 11 of Chicago P.D.?
Jason Beghe as Sergeant Hank Voight
The hard-nosed, dedicated and rather controversial Chicago P.D. Intelligence Unit chief is likely back for Season 11. Beghe first appeared as a dirty cop on Chicago Fire and was introduced in the third episode of the first season of Chicago P.D.
Patrick John Flueger as Officer Adam Ruzek
Mum's the word on whether Ruzek survived a shooting at the end of Season 10. If he did, the impact on him and his relationship with Burgess could be a focal point of the new season.
LaRoyce Hawkins as Officer Kevin Atwater
Hawkins, whose character fatally shot white supremacist Richard Beck in the Season 10 finale, addressed Chicago P.D.'s future and the strike during a recent masterclass.
"From my personal research, we have a big hill to climb before we can find an agreement,” Hawkins said. “I’m faithful and optimistic that it will only be a couple more months—if that—that we’re off.”
Amy Morton as Sergeant Trudy Platt
The sarcastic desk sergeant and wife of Chicago Fire's Mouch is presumably set to return to the show. As for Mouch, his fate on his own series is up in the air after the Season 11 finale saw him injured and possibly killed.

Tracy Spiridakos as Detective Hailey Upton
The (usually) straight-laced, tough-as-nails detective is set to return for Season 11. Spiridakos moved from recurring in Season 4 to part of the main cast the following year. The 10th season saw her character close the door on her marriage to Halstead, who left to rejoin the Army.
Marina Squerciati as Officer Kim Burgess
Burgess progressed toward healing from PTSD and rekindled her relationship with Ruzek in Season 10. However, Ruzek is fighting for his life after being shot. What does that mean for the super couple and Burgess herself? It's the biggest unanswered question heading into Season 11.
Benjamin Levy Aguilar as Officer Dante Torres
Aguilar joined the main cast in Season 10. He's a mentee of Halstead and has a troubled past, having served time in juvenile detention after beating his abusive stepfather into a coma as a teenager.
Sara Bues as Assistant State's Attorney Nina Chapman
ASA Chapman put aside her differences with Voight to secure Samantha's immunity in Season 10. However, she still isn't a fan and remains skeptical of the chief. Their relationship will be one to watch in Season 11.
Do Kim and Ruzek get married?
No. Burgess and Ruzek haven't gotten married, but they've been on-again, off-again since Chicago P.D. debuted. They got engaged in Season 2 but called off the wedding in Season 3 partly because of Ruzek's commitment issues. In Chicago P.D. Season 10, Burgess' progress in therapy for PTSD after nearly dying in Season 8 made Ruzek proud. The pair attended a joint therapy session, expressed their feelings and shared a kiss.
"I think it has to do with balance," Flueger told NBC Insider of the onscreen couple. "I think it’s just they balance each other out. They just collectively calm each other down and, you know, validate each other’s strengths and make up for each other’s weaknesses."
Timing has never been great for the highly-shipped couple, and the Season 10 finale left fans wondering if there was any hope left.
