Adam Sandler Charms Fans While Accepting the 2024 People’s Icon at People’s Choice Awards

Adam Sandler was the man of the hour at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards.
The comedian-actor accepted the honor of the People’s Icon Award, making him the sixth recipient to receive the award and putting him in the exclusive company of Melissa McCarthy, Jennifer Lopez, Halle Berry and Ryan Reynolds.
Known for his casual fashion sense—and even dubbed a Gen-Z style icon—he hopped on stage rocking a gray suit with orange athletic sneakers.
After longtime friend and collaborator Jennifer Aniston presented him with the award, Sandler gave a comical speech acting as if he won People's Sexiest Man Alive, which got the whole audience laughing, before thanking his collaborators, friends, his whole family—including the in-laws.
Sandler's wife Jackie was on hand to support him during the milestone career moment, with Sandler giving a special shoutout to his "darling wife" in his speech, saying, "I love every car ride and every kiss we've ever had."
Fans loved Sandler's fun speech, with one reacting on X, "i love Adam Sandler so much. soooo much. he’s my king," while another said, "To say he is a comedic genius and talented af is putting it lightly!"
When Sandler was chosen as this year’s prestigious recipient, Jen Neal, executive vice president, live events and specials, NBCUniversal Entertainment, said in a statement: “Adam Sandler has been a fixture in the industry for decades, entertaining us since he got his start on Saturday Night Live more than 30 years ago. From Billy Madison to Mr. Deeds, his unforgettable characters have endured the test of time and left their mark on audiences for generations. We’re excited to honor him with this year’s People’s Icon Award.”
While this is a milestone achievement for the 57-year-old actor, it isn’t his first from the award show, as he has been recognized with nine People’s Choice Awards throughout the years.
His extensive career—in notable movies such as Grown Ups, 50 First Dates, Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, and more—has earned him a plethora of accolades, including six MTV Movie Awards, 12 Kids’ Choice Awards, and even the prestigious Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
The 2024 People’s Choice Awards kicked off on Sunday, Feb. 18, at 8 p.m. ET at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif., with Barbie star Simu Liu as host. Lenny Kravitz was also honored with the Music Icon Award.
