  • Adele took to Instagram to express her grief over the recent murder of George Floyd, as well as to stand in solidarity with Black Lives Matter.

  • In her message, the singer explained how racism isn't a problem that plagues only the United States and pleaded for people around the world to fight for justice in the battle against police brutality.

Adele is joining the ever-growing list of celebrities and high-profile figures demanding justice after the murder of George Floyd, and speaking out in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

The "Hello" singer, like Beyoncé, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and more who have expressed their deep frustration and exhaustion over the unsolved issue of police brutality in America, took to her Instagram to post a photo of Floyd followed by a caption detailing her distress over the current racial unrest plaguing the United States. Adele, however, went a step further and mentioned in her post that racism is not a problem unique to just America but a virus sickening the entire world.

"George Floyd's murder has sent shockwaves around the world, there are countless others that haven't. Protests and marches are happening all over the globe simultaneously and only gaining momentum. So be righteously angered but be focused! Keep listening, keep asking and keep learning!" she wrote. "It's important we don't get disheartened, hijacked or manipulated right now. This is about systematic racism, this is about police violence and it's about inequality. And this isn't only about America! Racism is alive and well everywhere. I wholeheartedly stand in solidarity with the fight for freedom, liberation and justice ?? #blacklivesmatter #georgefloyd #saytheirnames."
