Warning: this video will make you ugly cry, grin from ear to ear, or inspire you to become a parent (if you aren’t one already!).
U.K.-based influencer Gabrielle Sterling — better known as GiGi Beauty — recently posted a “Transforming My Daughter Into Me!” makeup tutorial video to YouTube featuring her mini-me, Amelia, and the internet can’t deal with their cuteness.

The 3-year-old has all the popular YouTube catchphrases — like “Hi, guys!” and “That’s so cool!” — down pat as she sits patiently beside her mom while getting glammed up in a matching bronzy glow.
This isn’t the first time Amelia has made an appearance in one of her mother’s videos, as Sterling revealed in the description field that followers “requested” her daughter make an on-camera return.
Totally self-taught, Sterling started dabbling in makeup artistry three years ago and learned a lot from watching Youtube tutorials herself. She tells Yahoo Lifestyle, “I think it’s important sharing everything you learn and do with your children. What some people don’t know is that makeup is an art, and if Amelia —when she’s old enough — wants to learn it, I’d be more than happy to teach her and support.”
In the eight-minute video, Sterling admits that the tot’s father would ask, “Why you putting makeup on Amelia for?” The two laugh about the possible scenario, and Amelia even suggests “hiding.” Awww.
The duo jumps right into action, as Sterling applies Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade. She explains, “Your eyebrows are perfectly shaped,” and that this technique is “not a regular thing.”
The makeup guru also uses brands created for and by black women, including Juvia’s Place, Fenty Beauty, and CoverGirl’s Queen Collection. Swooshing brushes across the child’s face, she reaffirms her natural beauty: “Cause you’ve got perfect skin already, you don’t need any foundation or concealer.”
From the way Amelia sucks in her cheekbones to amplify the contour, and her priceless reaction the brilliance of the Trophy Wife Highlighter (“Wow, I can see it!”), we can tell she’s going to be a star.
Peering at her reflection in the mirror, Amelia says, “We’ve got the same hair and makeup!”
While we’ve watched “Transforming My Daughter Into Me” videos by beauty YouTubers Ellarie and her daughter, Yoshidoll, and Destiny and her baby girl, Zoelle, and read negative comments from critics, Sterling’s take on the viral trend further illustrates that these mommy-and-me moments are about more than just makeup. They are proof that representation matters, and how having role models who look just like you can have a powerful and positive influence. “I’ve had a few silly comments here and there, but it doesn’t bother me. I remember that everyone has an opinion — good or bad,’ says Sterling.
As Sterling eloquently puts it, “Makeup doesn’t make someone beautiful, because you’re already beautiful without makeup.”
