Adult Floaties? They’re Happening at Australian Fashion Week
A number of eclectic — and questionable — pieces and trends have emerged from fashion weeks around the world over the years. Some of the most recent looks from a swim show during Australian Fashion Week certainly stood out because of an unusual accessory that was featured on the runway.
Patterned bikinis, bandeau tops with high-waisted bottoms, and one-pieces featuring cutouts, among other styles, were paired with swim floaties during the presentation at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on Wednesday in Sydney.
Activewear designer Duskii incorporated the floats into many of its looks during the show.
Most of the arm floaties matched the swimsuits the models were sporting. While many different accessories have been paired with swimwear on the runway, the arm floats were an interesting — and humorous — addition to the show.
The designer also showcased models carrying full-sized floats in the presentation. Considering many swimwear presentations usually just feature models sporting swim caps, it was definitely a unique method by the designer to generate some buzz around the looks.
Celebrities and models like Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Karlie Kloss, Lea Michele, and Shay Mitchell have all been spotted in Duskii, although sans swim floats. With such a popular fanbase, it’s likely that the brand can get away with experimenting with different pieces on the runway — no matter how ridiculous the floaties might look.
Another designer during the show — Aqua Blu — presented unconventional swim attire too. A model wearing the brand ditched the full embellished skirt of her outfit to reveal a shimmering, long-sleeved gold swimsuit while walking the runway.
Lucy Markovic, the model who sported the elaborate design, posted a video on Instagram showing off the skirt and embellished swimsuit.
Thank you @aquabluswim ????????
