Adult prom, bread-making class, cheese week: Plenty of events to check out this month

Spring has officially sprung, and this April there are tons of outdoor activities, concerts and events for the family to enjoy in and around York County!

From bread making classes, to salsa dancing, to reptile shows, live music and more, here are tons of events to look forward to this month.

April 4: Salsa Dancing Lessons

The York County Hispanic Coalition is hosting a fundraiser to create opportunities for York County graduating high school seniors of Hispanic/Latino heritage. Guests can participate in one, two, three or four classes, which will occur every Thursday during the month of April. Classes will take place at 6 p.m. in York's Central Market and are $25 per person. Proceeds will benefit the York County Hispanic Coalition Scholarship Funds.

April 5: Friday Night Jazz

Friday night live jazz performances will happen weekly every Friday, at Victor’s Italian Restaurant. Performances by groups The MOJO Trio, Lōser, Gingrich, Kostoff, Miceli, Meashey, Monaghan and Chris Lōser Trio will take place throughout the month of April. These performances do not include a cover charge and run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

April 5: Country Line Dancing in Dover

Bring your friends out for a Friday night of dancing at Brookside Park. From 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., dance along to your favorite country line dances. Admission is $10 at the door and payments can be made in cash, PayPal, Venmo or CashApp.

April 5: Designer Purse Bingo

Enjoy a night out with friends for a chance to win high-end bags. Pressley Ridge Central PA is hosting a Designer Purse Bingo night on April 5 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Advent Lutheran Church.

The event will also include 50/50 raffles, pull tabs and light refreshments, with proceeds benefiting the children and families served by Pressley Ridge. Tickets for the event are $35 and can be purchased by PresslyRidge.ticketleap.com.

April 5: First Friday in Downtown York

This month's First Friday celebration downtown will take place on Friday, April 5.

A celebration of downtown shops, restaurants, cultural venues and nightlife spots, the event will take place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Take a stroll downtown and check out the special events and promotions hosted by local shops. York's Central Market will even be hosting a Spring fashion show by Collage Shop. The fashion show begins at 6 p.m. and will showcase Collage's new summer fashion line, modeled by employees of local non-profit and businesses, who will walk down a runway to the music of Peter Bottros.

April 7: York County Reptile Show

Looking for a Sunday morning activity with the family? The York County Reptile Show will host a large selection of legal, healthy reptiles and supplies in a safe and informative environment at the Wyndham Garden Hotel.

Admission tickets are $8 for adults, $3 for kids ages six to 11 and free for ages five and under. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

April 13: Foreigner's Journey - Tribute band to Foreigner and Journey

A tribute band for legendary bands Foreigner and Journey are coming to Hanover to bring York County an electrifying show. This tribute band hopes to give guests unforgettable night, and will even feature American Idol Season 6 finalist Rudy Cardenas. The event will take place on Saturday, April 13 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and tickets are $35.

April 18: Kable House Presents Christopher Paul Stelling

Enjoy a night of music by Atlanta, Georgia-based songwriter Christopher Paul Stelling, known for his intricate finger-style guitar and vocals. Performing as both a headliner and as support for Son Little, Mavis Staples, and The Devil Makes Three, Ben Harper among other artists, Stelling has performed at festivals, on live TV, and now, he's coming to York.

April 20: Adult Prom 2024

Do you want to relive the fanciest night of your teenage years? Adults in York County are cordially invited to Adult Prom 2024, a night designed for elegance, laughter and the joy of reconnecting, all in the name of fundraising for charity.

The event will include a red-carpet arrival, a live DJ playing your favorite hits, an elegant dinner, professional photography to capture the moments, dancing and more. Tickets go from $130 to $150 and are available for purchase at eventbrite.com.

The proceeds from this night will go to HOPE - Help for Oncology Problems and Emotional Support. H.O.P.E. is a local nonprofit providing high-quality, hands-on and heartfelt assistance and support to cancer patients and their families.

April 20-27: York City Cheese Week

One of downtown York's many food-themed weeks, Cheese Week is a week-long extravaganza filled with cheesy delights created by the culinary creatives at restaurants, pubs and cafes. Participating restaurants will offer specially curated menus featuring a variety of cheese-inspired dishes, from appetizers to main courses and even desserts.

April 21: Mom's Day Out - Charcuterie Class

Moms, grab your besties and enjoy an afternoon to yourselves, sampling wine, meat and cheeses, and a demonstration on how to make show stopping, Instagram-worthy charcuterie boards. $60 per person includes your first drink including a glass of wine, cocktail, mocktail, or beer, demonstration and the opportunity to make your very own charcuterie board.

April 27: A Global Tasting

Enjoy an evening of great wine paired with delicious food, including champagne upon arrival, at Junior Achievement's silent auction. Enjoy a sampling of spirits and craft beer, live entertainment, and plenty of great items. The event will take place at 610 South George Street from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

April 27: Gluten-free Bread Making Class

In this class, guests will discover how to store, maintain and care for your gluten-free sourdough starter, in addition to mastering the art of creating yeast-risen, gluten-free bread. The instructors at Horn Farm will also walk you through the techniques to make no-rise flatbreads in under 30 minutes.

April 27: Spring Bloom Artisan Market

Gather your families and head over to Flinchbaugh's Orchard's outdoor, pop-up shopping vendor experience. Activities the whole family will enjoy include Alpaca snuggling, live music and entertainment, a bubble station, and free plant potting station. Food vendors including The Kilted Griller, Creative Crepes, G’s Concessions, Mamma’s Meltz, Auntie Anne’s and more will be in attendance for all your snack needs.

April 27: Go Green in the City 2024 

Entering its 16th year, this family-friendly festival is an afternoon full of fun, while celebrating the earth. Held on the block of North Beaver Street between Philadelphia Street and Market Street, and South Beaver Street between Market Street and King Street, this street fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and feature over 60 vendors, live music, food, children’s activities and more.
