American’s Got Talent: Extreme fans are sending their best to stuntman Jonathan Goodwin.

On February 20, the self-described “Daredevil” announced that he was officially released from the hospital several months after his act on the NBC competition series went terribly wrong. Last spring, AGT announced its new spinoff AGT: Extreme featuring “the most outrageous and jaw-dropping daredevil acts,” which included Jonathan’s escape artist stunt. Unfortunately, in October 2021, news broke that he had been injured during his performance.

According to reports, Jonathan was hanging from his feet 40 feet in the air in a straitjacket. He attempted to free himself as two cars swung back and forth on either side of him. But he got sandwiched between them and a rigged explosive went off. Jonathan then fell and “missed the airbag [and] landed on his head," per 9-1-1 audio. An AGT spokesperson told People that he was “responsive and was immediately taken to the hospital.” In response, the show temporarily halted production.

Now, he's out and he isn’t alone in his recovery journey. Just one day before AGT: Extreme premiered, Jonathan shared a highly anticipated health update on his Instagram. As fans may know, days after the production accident in the fall, he posted a selfie from his hospital bed thanking everyone who reached out to him. Most recently, Jonathan celebrated his release from professional medical care last Sunday with a selfie next to his fiancée, English actress Amanda Abbington.

“Four months later… finally out of hospital,” Jonathan captioned it. “My birthday today… can’t think of a better way to spend it than with my love.”

Upon seeing Jonathan in great spirits with Amanda, his fans immediately flooded the comments section with well wishes for his 41st birthday. “Happy birthday. So pleased to hear you’re home and on the mend ????????,” one person wrote. “Ohhh what wonderful news! I’m so thrilled for you, Jonathan! What a lovely birthday gift. Wishing you the happiest of birthdays! ?? Have a good one. x,” another added. “Was wondering how you were doing!!!! So glad you are doing better and with your love. Happiest of birthdays to you!!!!” a different fan said.

Fellow Got Talent competitors also stopped in to share heartfelt messages with him. “Happy birthday Jonathan. Much love to you ??,” wrote Britain’s Got Talent season 12 semifinalist Marc Spelmann. “Happy birthday buddy ??????,” added AGT season 15 finalist Alan Silva.

Jonathan was first introduced to viewers in 2019 when he starred in Britain's Got Talent season 13 and made it to the finals. In 2020, he was featured on AGT season 15 and made it to the semifinals. Though Jonathan kept his latest Instagram update brief, he previously expressed his appreciation. “You can’t say you don’t get out what you put in,” he wrote in part. “I’ve tried my hardest over the years to be kind, thoughtful, honest supportive and good. A couple of days ago my life took a complete left turn… and the out pouring of love from all the corners of the world; from people I didn’t even think would know or remember me… has just been astonishing. Truly incredible.”

He concluded: “I will have a lot to say on that matter and the benefits of being kind in the future.. but thank you. Thank you to everyone who has reached out and sent their love and support. It literally has been a lifesaver."
